How does Speed work in Steal An Egg?
Speed is the stat that decides everything about movement: which biomes you can survive, whether you can outrun a guardian after grabbing an egg, and whether other players can escape with your pets. The formula is simple and always the same:
Treadmill base × Trail multiplier = Speed gained per step
Treadmills add a base number for every step you take on them; trails multiply that number. Example from the current game: the Angelic Treadmill (+2,000) with the Divine Trail (×14) yields 28,000 Speed per step. Because it is a product, the cheapest way to double your Speed is whatever side of the equation is currently weaker — which is why the upgrade order below matters more than raw grinding.
Every treadmill tier (11 total)
| Treadmill | Rarity | Base per step | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Treadmill | Common | +2 | Free |
| Sci-Fi | Uncommon | +5 | $15K |
| Flame | Rare | +12 | $250K |
| Celebrity | Epic | +30 | $5M |
| Golden | Legendary | +80 | $120M |
| The Freeze | Mythic | +100 | $3B |
| Lucky Block | Cosmic | +200 | $75B |
| Hacker | Secret | +500 | $3T |
| Demonic | Eternal | +1k | $50T |
| Angelic | Divine | +2k | $1Qa |
| Astral | Divine | +3k | $15Qa |
Prices scale brutally — the Astral costs fifteen quadrillion — but income scales faster if you keep pushing into richer biomes. That is the whole economy of the game: eggs fund treadmills, treadmills unlock better egg fields.
Every trail multiplier (11 total)
| Trail | Rarity | Multiplier | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grey | Common | ×1.5 | $100 |
| Green | Uncommon | ×2 | $5K |
| Blue | Rare | ×2.5 | $75K |
| Purple | Epic | ×3 | $1.5M |
| Golden | Legendary | ×3.5 | $30M |
| Red | Mythic | ×4 | $750M |
| Galaxy | Cosmic | ×5 | $20B |
| Secret | Secret | ×7 | $500B |
| Eternal | Eternal | ×10 | $12.5T |
| Divine | Divine | ×14 | $300T |
| Moonbloom | Divine | ×20 | $5Qa |
The Moonbloom Trail arrived in update 4 and is currently the strongest multiplier in the game. Prices and tiers above come from community documentation of the current version — the game updates almost daily, so treat the top rows as the most likely to shift. The maximum confirmed combo is Astral + Moonbloom = 60,000 Speed per step.
The upgrade order that actually progresses
Community consensus, and the math, agree on one order:
- Treadmill first. It sets the base your trail multiplies; a ×20 trail on a +2 treadmill is still only 40 Speed per step.
- Base upgrades second. Your base holds hatched pets and their income pays for everything else.
- Trail third. Buy whichever trail upgrade is cheaper than the next treadmill jump — the product is what counts.
Then spend Speed where it pays: each biome’s speed gate is listed in the biomes guide, from Lake at roughly 900 to Prehistoric at about 17 million. When a gate blocks you, grind the treadmill in a safe biome instead of dying in a rich one.
The free head start most players miss
Before you spend a dollar of in-game cash, claim the free rewards: liking the game, favouriting it and joining the developer group can grant a starting Speed boost of up to +10,000 — enough to skip most of the early treadmill grind and step straight into the Desert. The beginner guide walks through that first hour step by step.
