FAQ

What should I do first in Steal An Egg?
Claim the free rewards before anything else: liking the game, favouriting it and joining the developer group can grant up to +10,000 starting Speed — enough to open the Lake and Desert gates early.
How do I steal an egg?
Walk to a guarded nest, press E on desktop or tap the prompt on mobile, and carry the egg home while the guardian chases you. Plan the return route before you grab.
What do I upgrade first?
The treadmill. It sets the base Speed number your trail multiplies. The community order is treadmill, then base, then trail — buy whichever is cheaper at your stage.
Is Steal An Egg pay-to-win?
No. The game is free on Roblox with no purchases, and progression runs on the egg-hatch-earn loop. Speed and income come from playing, not spending.

What is Steal An Egg and how does the loop work?

Steal An Egg is a free Roblox simulation-tycoon: you steal eggs from guarded nests, carry them home, hatch them into pets that earn money every second, and turn that money into Speed on treadmills so you can raid richer biomes — and steal from other players, who can steal from you. Servers hold seven players, and every egg rule you need is in the eggs guide. Here is the first hour, in order.

Minute 0: claim the free Speed

Before you take a single step, claim everything free:

  • Like the game, favourite it, and join the developer group — the reward bundle can grant up to +10,000 Speed, enough to open the Lake gate (~900) and even the Desert gate (~10,000) without touching the early treadmill.
  • It is the single largest free jump in the game, and skipping it is the most common new-player mistake.

Minutes 1-10: your first steals

  1. Walk to the Forest nests and press E (tap the prompt on mobile) to grab an egg. The guardian — a chicken — gives chase immediately.
  2. Plan the route home before you grab. Straight line, no detours, drop nothing. Carrying is the vulnerable window.
  3. Hatch at your base. Watch the bar: weight in kilograms and any mutation preview before the hatch finishes.
  4. Repeat. Egg spawns refresh roughly every five minutes, then the biome closes briefly — rotate nests instead of waiting.

Minutes 10-30: spend in the right order

Money from hatched pets funds upgrades, and the order matters because Speed is a product of treadmill × trail:

  1. Treadmill first — it sets the base number. The first upgrade (Sci-Fi, +5, $15K) already doubles your early Speed.
  2. Base upgrades second — they protect and grow the income engine.
  3. Trail third — a multiplier on a small base is still small; buy whichever upgrade is cheaper until the numbers even out.

The full tier tables live in the speed guide.

Minutes 30-60: break the next gate

With the free +10,000 and a treadmill or two, Lake is free money and Desert is reachable. This is where the compound loop starts:

  • Bigger eggs → heavier pets → more money per second → faster treadmill tiers → the next biome’s gate.
  • Check shell colour on every nest refresh — rainbow and golden tints mean a guaranteed mutation on hatch.
  • Watch other players. With seven per server, anyone carrying an egg home is a target, and that includes you: do not leave fresh eggs or hatched pets undefended while you shop the treadmill menu.

The five mistakes that stall new players

  1. Skipping the free rewards — leaving +10,000 Speed unclaimed.
  2. Entering biomes far above your Speed — you lose the egg and the walk home.
  3. Camping an empty biome — respawns are on a five-minute clock; rotate.
  4. Upgrading trails before treadmills — multiplying a tiny base.
  5. Trusting “codes” lists — the game has no redeem box yet; the honest status is tracked on the codes page.

Where to go from here

Once the first hour is comfortable, the climb is mechanical: the biomes guide lists every gate from Lake to Cherry Blossom, the mutations guide shows the seven ways to stack multipliers, and the speed guide has the treadmill and trail prices to plan your next five upgrades. Bookmark the wiki and check back after every update — pages carry their last-checked date.
